We are looking for a team member (m/f/d) to support our HPC team for the DFG Collaborative Research Center (SFB) 1404 "Foundations of Workflows for Large-Scale Scientific Data Analysis". You will assist researchers in conducting research on user-friendly and efficient infrastructures for analyzing very large datasets and will also participate in these research activities.
The range of tasks is broad, from developing a test environment for federated workflow systems, providing assistance with various modern clusters, to supporting data management, storage, and analysis. As part of the sustainability research in the SFB, the clusters should be equipped with the necessary tools and measuring devices for accurate power consumption recording for efficient operations, and the data should be processed and made programmatically available.
Responsibilities
- Conceptualization and development of technical solutions and services in the HPC environment
- Implementation of an energy measurement infrastructure for clusters
- Support in the use of modern computing clusters and software infrastructures
- Management of workflow and provenance repositories
- Opportunity for part-time doctoral studies in the field of infrastructures for workflow systems
Requirements
- Completed scientific university degree in computer science or equivalent skills and experience
- Good understanding of cluster infrastructures
- Good knowledge of cluster management and job scheduling systems
- Experience in high-performance computing is desirable
- Good knowledge of IT monitoring systems (Prometheus, Redfish), virtualization solutions, and compute clusters is desirable
- Knowledge and experience in programming, including scripting languages
- Good German language skills (B2 level)
- Very good English language skills
- Teamwork, communication skills, commitment, service orientation, and flexibility
- Interest in interdisciplinary research
